Pre-Game Report: Giants at Cougars
The Vancouver Giants (23-34-5-2) will take on the Prince George Cougars (33-26-3-1) at the CN Centre on Tuesday night. It’s the seventh of eight meetings between the two teams. Puck drop is at 7:00pm. Catch the action on TSN 1410, beginning with the Pre-Game Show at 6:00pm.
The Giants won back-to-back games the last time they visited Prince George on January 2nd and 3rd. Vancouver is coming off a 4-2 loss to the Kamloops Blazers at Saturday night. Radovan Bondra had a goal and an assist in the loss to extend his point streak to four games. The 1997-born winger has eight points in his last seven contests. Vancouver defenceman Brennan Menell has done well against the Cougars this year, scoring 10 points in six games against Prince George.
The Cougars have struggled of late, winning only two of their last 11 games. As a result, the Prince George club, who was battling with the Victoria Royals for second place in the BC Division earlier in the season, is now just three points clear of the Kamloops Blazers who hold the final wild card playoff spot. Cougars forward Colby McAuley leads the WHL in penalty minutes with 144 while Jesse Gabrielle is tied for first in the league in shorthanded goals with six.
