The Giants took a 2-0 series lead on the Spokane Chiefs in the second round with a 4-1 victory at the Pacific Coliseum. Jonathon Blum led the way for Vancouver with a pair of goals while Craig Cunningham and Casey Pierro-Zabotel also scored in the win. Drayson Bowman had the lone Spokane goal in the 3rd period. Tyson Sexsmith stopped 18 of 19 shots in the Vancouver crease.

Vancouver defeated the Everett Silvertips 3-1 on the road to take a 2-1 lead in their second round series. Gilbert Brule bagged two goals in the win while Adam Courchaine netted a goal and an assist. Zach Hammill scored for Everett. Giants’ goalie Aaron Sorochan made 34 stops on 35 shots to earn first star honours.

The Seattle Thunderbirds defeated the Giants in Game 1 of their second round series, edging the G-Men 4-3 in overtime. Brett Robertson tallied the winner at 10:47 of the extra period. Cody Franson, Lance Bouma and Kenndal McArdle had Vancouver’s goals. Seattle out shot Vancouver 34-30, and the T-Birds generated 10 power plays, scoring on two of them.

The Portland Winterhawks outlasted the Giants 3-2 at the Pacific Coliseum. In spite of the loss, the G-Men still led the second round series 2-1. Luca Sbisa had the eventual game winning goal for the visiting ‘Hawks while James Wright netted both markers for Vancouver. Mark Segal faced 38 shots in the Vancouver goal, stopping 35 of them.

The Giants tied up their second round series against the Portland Winterhawks at 1-1 after a 7-1 win at the Rink on Renfrew. Vancouver exploded for five goals in the second period en route to the win. Mitch Bartley scored twice while Brett Parker, Milan Lucic, Tim Kraus, Mario Bliznak and Michal Repik also joined in on the scoring party.

The Spokane Chiefs went ahead 2-1 in their second round series with the Giants, beating Vancouver 3-2 at the Coliseum. Tyler Johnson scored the game winner in the third period for the visitors while Casey Pierro-Zabotel and Mile Piluso rippled the mesh for Vancouver. Dustin Tokarski picked up the win for the Chiefs, turning aside 23 of 25 Vancouver shots.

The Giants exploded offensively, defeating the Seattle Thunderbirds 9-2 to take a 2-1 lead in their second round series. Spencer Machacek, Michael Repik and Kenndal McArdle all had four point games while Tyson Sexsmith only faced 16 Seattle shots, making 14 saves. Eight of Vancouver’s goals came at even strength while Repik scored a shorthanded marker as well.
