The Kamloops Blazers continued their road trip from Victoria and headed down south to Everett for a faceoff against the No.1 ranked team in the CHL.
Kamloops turned to Ivans Kufterins between the pipes, while the Silvertips countered with Anders Miller.
The first opened with energy, as the Blazers garnered a quick chance just three minutes in when Vit Zahejsky and Cooper Moore nearly connected to make it 1-0. Kamloops would strike first, Tommy Lafreniere and J.P. Hurlbert went to work, and Hurlbert pounced on a rebound to make it 1-0, notching his 80th point of the WHL season.
Just 20 seconds later, Nathan Behm worked his way into the zone and roofed one past Miller to extend the lead to 2-0. Kamloops continued to press offensively, but Everett began to tilt the ice back in their favor. Henri Ament eventually broke through, firing a shot past Kufterins to cut the Blazers’ lead to 2-1.
Everett opened the second frame up with a bit more aggression, generating early looks from Julius Miettinen and Landon DuPont, but Kufterins stood tall to turn both aside. Kamloops would then add another, this time on the powerplay, as Lafreniere buried a rebound to make it 3-1.
The Blazers continued to dictate the tempo, and Vit Zahejsky nearly made it 4-1 when he tried to sneak one five-hole on Miller, but was denied with a big stop. At the other end, Kufterins delivered again, denying Jesse Heslop on a dangerous chance to preserve the two-goal lead. Everett would push back on the man advantage, with Carter Bear ripping a one-timer past Kufterins to cut the Blazers’ lead to 3–2.
The third period opened with immediate momentum for Everett, as the Silvertips struck just 1:34 in on the power play. Carter Bear netted his second of the night to even the game at three.
The Blazers would find some offensive rhythm, as Lafreniere and Josh Evaschesen each generated high-danger chances, but were denied by Miller. Everett then grabbed the lead when Luke Kaplan stepped into a slap shot from the point that beat Kufterins, making it 4-3.
The Blazers continued to press late, but Everett sealed the contest with two empty-net goals, skating away with a 6-3 win.
Next up: The Blazers will face the Vancouver Giants on Saturday.
