KAMLOOPS BLAZERS ANNOUNCE B.C. FAMILY DAY PLANS
Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers will be hosting the Edmonton Oil Kings on B.C. Family Day on Monday, February 12th, 2018 at 2:00pm at the Sandman Centre.
The annual afternoon game always draws a large crowd at the Sandman Centre. The first 5000 fans will receive an orange Kamloops Blazers t-shirt with #WeWanttheCup2020 on it and noisemakers. The hockey club announced earlier this season that they will bid on the opportunity to host the 2020 Memorial Cup.
The t-shirts are sponsored by The Reach and the City of Kamloops. Many community groups including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club, Family Tree Family Centre, Kamloops Child Development Centre, Children’s Family Therapy and the Chris Rose Therapy Centre will be at the game courtesy of our community commitment sponsors.
Our community commitment sponsors include Argo Road Maintenance, Arrow Transportation, Family Glass, Highland Valley Copper, Inland Glass, Kal Tire, Kelson Group, and Valley First.
Fan favourite Cameron Hughes will be back. He will be dancing and throwing out t-shirts throughout the B.C. Family Day Game. Save on Foods is the game sponsor with face painting and mascots on the concourse. Come early to see the Buskers perform on the plaza at 1:00pm.
For the second consecutive year, the B.C. Family Day game will be recognized as ‘Faith and Family Day’. The Blazers have teamed up with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kamloops and will have a contingent of people from St. Ann’s Academy and Our Lady of Perpetual Help schools as well as the local parishes. .
Bishop Joseph P. Nguyen will drop the puck in a ceremonial faceoff and the St. Ann’s Academy and O.L.P.H. Rising Stars school choir will perform the national anthem. The schools will also present a cheque to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation.
Big Brothers Big Sisters will be raffling off a trip for 2 anywhere WestJet flies. Tickets will only be available at the game, with the prize awarded in the third period.
Following the game, there will be a postgame skate with the Blazers. Make sure to bring your skates to get pictures and autographs from some of your favourite players!
