PROSPECT REPORT: WHL Cup Day Three
Calgary, Alta – The third day of the 2017 WHL Cup saw Team Alberta remain undefeated to clinch first place in the round-robin stage of the tournament while Team British Columbia got into the win column for the first time this week, setting up a semifinal matchup with Team Saskatchewan.
Blade prospect Koen MacInnes was absolutely stellar in net for British Columbia in his second game of the tournament, recoding the first shutout among all tournament goaltenders by making saves 18 on all 18 shots Saskatchewan threw at him.
Fellow Blade prospect and British Columbia teammate Aiden De La Gorgendiere got himself on the points sheet for the first time in the tournament during his side’s 6-0 tear up of Saskatchewan, earning an assist on the power play for B.C.’s 5th goal of the night.
In the other matchup of day three, Kyle Crnkovic of Alberta continued his strong tournament performance against Manitoba, recording 2 more assists to cement himself atop the leading scorer’s table with 7 points from three games played.
