Blades prepare for Pats; Thomson Returns
It’s the final home game before the Christmas break for the Blades, and they’re looking for an early Christmas present – a win against the rival Regina Pats that will snap Saskatoons nine game skid.
“Obviously we’re all ready for a win”, said Assistant Coach Dean Brockman at morning skate. “We’ve been playing well but it just hasn’t worked lately. Sometimes it’s a bad late goal, sometimes its a mental lapse, but we have been playing well, and hopefully we can get a W at home”.
The Blades will recieve some help on the back end – after missing more than a month with an upper body injury, blueliner Jordan Thomson will make his return to the lineup.
“I’m very excited to be back. I’ve been training hard, and I just want to step in, play hard, help the team in any way I can”.
“It’s huge getting Jordan back”, added Brockman. “He provides energy, some scoring. He just has to remember not to try to do too much, just play his game”.
Saturdays game will be the teams annual Toque Toss Night. The Blades will also wear specially designed Christmas Sweaters, that will be auctioned off.
