Tonight – The Saskatoon Blades visit the Moose Jaw Warriors for the first time this season looking to duplicate their first and only meeting of the year and take home 2 points. The Blades beat Moose Jaw 5-4 on Wednesday night in Saskatoon with goals coming from 5 different Blades: Alec Zawatsky, Braylon Shmyr, Gage Ramsay, Caleb Fantillo, and Evan Fiala (GWG). These two teams will then meet again on Tuesday right back in Moose Jaw.
The Opponent – After having their 6 game win streak snapped in Saskatoon on Wednesday, the WHL leading Warriors will look to start another run after a 5-2 win last night at home over the Calgary Hitmen. Rookie goaltender Adam Evanoff made 38 saves for Moose Jaw in the win, so the Blades can expect to see seasoned starter Brody Willms back between the pipes tonight.
For Saskatoon – The Blades have had three straight win-worthy efforts in their last 3 games and have only managed one win. Meaning the Blades will need to stay the course and stay strong mentally. After outshooting Brandon 31-17 in the first two periods last night and still trailing 3-0 the Blades frustration started to boil over in the 3rd. Don’t change the game plan too much, and don’t let the lack of results dictate the strong effort that has been present as of late and the Blades will have another chance to take 2 points from the top dogs.
The lineup – Seth Bafaro will sit out his final game of the 4-game suspension received last week meaning the defence won’t change tonight. Randen Schmidt, who was called up to fill in for Bafaro, has earned a permanent roster spot which should create some competition among the Blades blue liners.
With 15 forwards on the roster and only one (Christensen) on the IR, two players will have to sit. Tyler Lees and Dryden Michaud both sat out the last 2 games but after last night’s loss the Blades’ coaching staff could look at changing things up.
Injury Report:
F Logan Christensen – upper body, 2 weeks
