The Saskatoon Blades (32-25-5-2) look to improve to 3-1 in March as they visit InnovationPlex to take on the Swift Current Broncos (14-42-4-5). Saskatoon won the first game of the month 3-2 at home against the Red Deer Rebels on March 4, followed by a 5-2 win on home soil last Friday against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Tonight is the second half of a weekend home-and-home series between the East Division combatants. The Blades are 5-0-2-0 in the eight-game season series after an overtime.

The Blades sit sixth place in the Eastern Conference with 71 points. Ahead of them in fifth place is the Brandon Wheat Kings with 78 points. With four games remaining in the Blades’ season, there’s work to be done to try and close the gap and overtake Brandon. The Wheat Kings also have four games remaining, including one against the Blades at SaskTel Centre on March 18.

20-year-old alternate captain Rowan Calvert scored his second hat-trick of the season in the win against Moose Jaw on Friday, Mar. 6. The performance helped the Moose Jaw, SK native reach the 30-goal milestone for the first time in his 265-game career. Calvert’s first hat-trick of his career came Dec. 13, 2025 in his hometown. The 6-foot winger leads the Blades in goals with 31 after a goal last night against Swift Current. In his final WHL season, Calvert has 50 points (31G, 19A) in 64 games.
The good guys
Edmonton Oilers draft pick David Lewandowski leads the team in scoring with 16 goals and 45 assists for 61 points in 53 games. Calvert has the most goals on the team at 31 and a team-leading 15 coming on the man-advantage. Forward Hayden Harsanyi own the best +/- at +9. Gardner has a 24-15-4-2 record between the pipes with a .903 SV%, 2.94 GAA, and three shutouts.
