Blades Keep the Win Streak Alive in Medicine Hat
Medicine Hat, AB – The Saskatoon Blades extended their win streak to seven following game four of the Alberta road trip in Medicine Hat, AB. Saskatoon finished the night with a 2-1 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers, improving to a 10-2-0-0 on the season.
The first 40 minutes of Friday night’s battle finished with zeros on the board. Goaltender Austin Elliot with a hot start had a handful of big saves throughout the first period along with both teams killing off a penalty each. Blades had their first power play midway through when Tigers took a two minute hooking penalty in front of the net and Vaughn Watterodt took his two minutes in the penalty box near the end of the period for boarding. The second period opened up with a Medicine Hat goal being called following head coach Brennan Sonne’s offside challenge and finished still a scoreless battle. Medicine Hat led on the shot clock after the second with 21 shots to the Blades 18.

Tyler Parr finally broke through with a power play goal 9:52 into the third period. Following a pass from Charlie Wright, Parr one-timed it top left corner past Tigers’ net minder Evan May. Just over four minutes later, Parr notched his second power play goal of the night and third goal of the season extending the Blades lead to 2-0. Medicine Hat would spoil Austin Elliott’s shutout bid with a power play marker of their own with just six seconds left in regulation. The goal snapped a 147:54 shutout streak for Elliott, who improved to 5-1 on the season with the win.
Tyler Parr’s pair of goals earned him first star honours while Elliott’s 28 saves saw him called out as the game’s third star.

The Blades will now travel to Lethbridge for a date with the Hurricanes on Saturday night at the Enmax Centre. It will be the third meeting of the season between Saskatoon and Lethbridge as each side holds a victory in the season series.
Next home game for the Blades is Wednesday, November 2nd versus the Tri-City Americans. It’s the first Winning Wednesday of the season. That means if the Blades win, everyone in attendance will receive a free ticket to the next home game.
