Blades and Broncos strike deal ahead of Import Draft
Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatoon Blades have traded 2005-born defenceman Tomas Zizka to the Swift Current Broncos for a conditional sixth-round WHL Prospect Draft pick in 2026.
Zizka was originally selected 37th overall by the Blades in the 2022 CHL Import Draft. The 6-foot, left-handed shot dressed in 32 regular season games for the Blue and Gold throughout the 2022-23 season, finishing with two assists, 11 penalty minutes, and a +6. The Zlin, Czech Republic native also appeared in eight postseason games.
Each club is allowed two import players on their roster, and this move opens up a spot for Saskatoon as the other is occupied by the club’s leading scorer last season Egor Sidorov. The Blades own picks 56 and 116 in the upcoming 2023 CHL Import Draft on Wednesday, Jul. 5th.
We thank Tomas for his contributions to the Blades organization and wish him the best in Swift Current!
