2019 WHL Cup: Day 3 Blades’ prospects recap
Calgary, AB – Day three of the WHL cup saw a pair of unbeaten teams play against one another as well as a pair of teams looking for their first win.
In the early game Team Manitoba and Team Saskatchewan were tied 3-3 halfway through the third period until Team Manitoba pulled ahead with just over 4 minutes remaining and won 4-3. Blades prospect Ethan Chadwick had a strong performance in net making 27 saves in the loss for Saskatchewan.
British Columbia played 2-0 Alberta in the late game which featured the Blades’ top 2 picks from the 2019 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft: Brandon Lisowsky and Hayden Smith. Lisowsky came into this game tied for 4th in WHL Cup scoring with 3 points in 2 games while Smith wasn’t far behind with 2 points in 2 games. A low scoring affair saw no third period goals as Alberta claimed the victory 2-1 in one of the lowest scoring games of the tournament thus far.
Saskatoon plays again on Sunday at 2:00PM vs the Moose Jaw Warriors for the Blades Fight Cancer Night. Post game fans will be able to hit the ice with the Blades players after the game to paint the names of your loved ones you’re fighting for!
