Americans select Schaefer twins in U.S. Priority Draft
Kennewick, WA – The Tri-City Americans added twins to their prospects pool following the WHL U.S. Priority Draft Wednesday morning. The Americans held the fourth and 24th overall picks in the draft, using them to select twin brothers Grady and Jackson Schaefer from the Anaheim Junior Ducks U14 AAA program.
Grady, a forward, led the U14 Ducks in scoring this past season with 74 points (39-35-74) in 62 games.
“Grady is a highly-skilled center who possesses a very high hockey IQ coupled with a tremendous compete level,” said Americans general manager Bob Tory. “He led his team in scoring while also leading he team to the USA Hockey National Championships.”
Jackson, a defenseman, recorded 25 points (10-15-25) in 63 games.
“Jackson is a skilled, offensive defenseman who played with his twin brother with the U14 Anaheim Ducks,” Tory added.
The Americans would like to welcome the Schaefer family to the organization.
