Sportsnet CHL Saturday Showcase: Acadie-Bathurst at Moncton
The QMJHL makes its CHL Saturday Showcase debut as the Acadie-Bathurst Titan pay a visit to their cross-provincial rival the Moncton Wildcats at 3:30pm ET/4:30pm AT.
Both teams come off Friday night losses as the Titan fell 5-2 on the road in Halifax while the Wildcats lost 4-3 in overtime to the Saint John Sea Dogs on home ice.
The 18-9-5-2 Titan had been on quite a roll until just recently. Boasting one of the league’s best power play units, Acadie-Bathurst features a number of capable goal-scorers in Anaheim Ducks prospect Antoine Morand, Philadelphia Flyers first round pick German Rubtsov and back-to-back 30+ goal scorer Jeffrey Truchon-Viel.
On the back end, draft eligible rearguard Noah Dobson has the scouts talking. The 17-year-old from Summerside, PE was recently named to the 2018 Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game coming up January 25th in Guelph, Ont.
Across the ice, the host Moncton Wildcats are looking to reverse a tough trend of late, having dropped eight of their past 10 games following a strong start to the season.
Eighteen year-olds Jeremy McKenna and Mika Cyr have led the team offensively with 16 goals apiece while 16-year-old standout Jakob Pelletier has proven to be one of the top young playmakers in the QMJHL this season, registering 29 points (8-21–29) in as many games.
Catch all of the action between the Titan and the Wildcats on Saturday afternoon as Sportsnet’s RJ Broadhead and Sam Cosentino have all of the action from Moncton.
