Desnoyers on quest for third international gold medal
Moncton’s Caleb Desnoyers is on a quest for a third international gold medal with Canada.
The 17-year-old has already tasted international glory at the 2023 World U17 Hockey Challenge as well as the 2024 U18 World Championships.
“I don’t know if it’s happened a lot of times winning three gold medals in less than a year but we have a special group and I’m really excited,” Desnoyers said. “I’m not even worried that we will finish with a smile at the end of the tournament.”
At the 2023 World U17 Hockey Challenge he had three goals and five points in eight games while at the 2024 U18 World Championships he played at a point-per-game pace across five contests.
“I’ve been lucky to wear [the Maple Leaf] twice this year and it’s a great privilege to wear it for a third time,” Desnoyers said.
Thus far at the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, Desnoyers has three assists in three games. The first overall pick in the 2023 QMJHL Draft entered the tournament on the back of an impressive rookie season in the Q where he finished third in scoring among first-year players with 56 points.
In November, the CHL USA Prospects Challenge presented by Kubota Canada will take place where the top first-year NHL Draft-eligible prospects from the CHL’s three member leagues will face off against the USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program (NTDP) in a two-game series. More details will be made available soon.
