2024-25 CHL Top-10 Rankings: Week 6
Today, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced the Week 6 edition of its CHL Top-10 Rankings for the 2024-25 season.
Riding a six-game point streak (5-0-1-0), the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) maintained their place atop the CHL Top-10 Rankings for the fourth consecutive week. As one of just three clubs with a CHL-best 13 wins this season, the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the QMJHL are up a spot to No. 2, while the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) slipped down a place to find themselves in third this week.
Among the biggest changes to this week’s rankings were the rise of the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL and the Chicoutimi Saguenéens of the QMJHL. The Rangers, who are currently in the midst of the longest point streak in the CHL at 14 games (12-0-1-1), are making their Top-10 debut of the 2024-25 campaign in seventh. Meanwhile, riding a six-game winning streak, the Saguenéens are also making their first appearance of the season in these rankings at No. 10.
The next rankings will be released the week of November 11, following the seventh week of regular season action in all three member leagues of the CHL.
CHL Top-10 Rankings – Week 6
1. Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL): Having picked up a point in all three games they played last week to extend their point streak to six games (5-0-1-0), the Moncton Wildcats (13-2-2-0) continue to stand on top of the QMJHL standings and the CHL Top-10 Rankings. Specifically, the Wildcats scored victories against Val-d’Or (7-4) and Halifax (5-1), while only dropping a 3-2 overtime defeat at the hands of the Saint John Sea Dogs (3-2). Moncton has now won eight of their last 10 games (8-1-1-0), and they stand as one of only three teams in the CHL with 13 wins on the year. With a CHL-best 82 goals scored this season, the Wildcats are averaging 4.82 goals per game, which ranks as the best of any club in the CHL. A big of the latter can be attributed to the ongoing play of 2025 NHL Draft prospect Caleb Desnoyers (11G-11A in 13 GP), who registered a goal in all three of the Wildcats’ games along with a total of eight points (5G-3A). Part of Desnoyers’ highlights from last week included a career-high five points and tallying his first career QMJHL hat-trick against the Foreurs on Saturday. Selected to play for Team CHL at the 2024 CHL USA Prospects Challenge from November 26-27, Desnoyers now has a goal and points in five straight games, having collected eight goals and 12 points over that stretch. This week, Moncton will look to continue its winning ways when they travel to Acadie-Bathurst on Friday, before returning home for a contest against the Drakkar.
Games this week: @ Acadie-Bathurst (Nov. 8), vs. Baie-Comeau (Nov. 10)
2. Drummondville Voltigeurs (QMJHL): With points in five straight contests (4-0-1-0), the Drummondville Voltigeurs (13-3-1-1) are up a spot to second in this week’s CHL Top-10 Rankings. Similar to their counterparts in Moncton, the Voltigeurs scored a pair of wins against Sherbrooke (4-3) and Victoriaville (4-3) along with suffering an overtime loss to Chicoutimi (3-2). With seven wins over their last 10 contests, Drummondville is one of only three teams in the CHL to top 13 wins this season. Captain Luke Woodworth (6G-21A in 16 GP) carried on his strong play by extending his goal and point streak to five games (6G-3A over that stretch). Woodworth continues to lead the CHL with 21 assists. With four multi-point outings over his last five games, Woodworth’s 27 points rank among the top five scorers in the QMJHL. Meanwhile, named to the CHL Team of the Month for September/October on Monday, Riley Mercer (9-2-1-0 record, 2.00 GAA, .943 SV%, 1 SO in 12 GP) registered his ninth win of the season, along with what was his eighth and ninth 30-plus save performances of the 2024-25 campaign. This week, the Voltigeurs will face a big challenge when they travel up the road to face the No.8-ranked and the 2025 Memorial Cup host Océanic, before coming back home for a date with the Remparts on Sunday.
Games this week: @ Rimouski (Nov. 8), vs. Québec (Nov. 10)
3. Windsor Spitfires (OHL): With two victories in three contests over the last seven days, the Windsor Spitfires (12-2-1-0) are down a place in this week’s rankings as they sit in third. The Spitifres continue to be the highest-scoring team in the OHL with a 4.73 goals-per-game average, the third-best mark in the CHL. Windsor also has given up the fewest goals (37) in the CHL and they hold the best goal differential (+44) of any of the CHL’s 60 clubs. Los Angeles Kings prospect Liam Greentree (8G-21A in 14 GP) had another strong week, registering three points (1G-2A) in the Spitfires’ three games. Greentree leads the CHL with 21 assists as he now has points in 13 of 14 games this season. Meanwhile, although he suffered his first loss of the 2024-25 campaign, goaltender Joey Costanzo (11-1-0-0 record, 1.67 GAA, .938 SV%, 2 SO in 12 GP) picked up another pair of wins, giving him a CHL-best 11 victories. By turning aside all 21 shots he faced on Friday against the Firebirds, Costanzo picked up his second shutout of the year, which also stands tied for the most of any netminder in the CHL. This week, the Spitfires will play three games in the absence of Ethan Belchetz, Jean-Christoph Lemieux, and Carter Hicks, who all three are away in Sarnia playing for Canada at the World U17 Hockey Challenge.
Games this week: vs. North Bay (Nov. 7), @ Saginaw (Nov. 9), vs. Peterborough (Nov. 10)
4. London Knights (OHL): With six wins in a row including a pair of victories over the last seven days, the London Knights (10-4-0-0) are up a spot to No. 4 this week. London is one of just three teams in the CHL to have won nine of their last 10 games. This past week, the Knights first edged the Soo Greyhounds (4-3) on Friday before they traveled to Owen Sound and defeated the Attack (2-1) in overtime. By scoring the OT winner in their contest against Owen Sound, Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan (7G-5A in 10 GP) extended his regular-season point streak to 46 games. Meanwhile, San Jose Sharks prospect Sam Dickinson (7G-10A in 12 GP) extended his point streak to five games thanks to the fact he registered an assist in both of the Knights’ victories. Dickinson is up to nine points (2G-7A) over his last five appearances. Additionally, netminder Alexei Medvedev (5-2-0-0 record, 2.89 GAA, .912 SV% in 9 GP) was named the OHL Rookie of the Week thanks to his stellar 38-save performance on the road against the Attack. This week, the Knights will travel to the Soo to face the Greyhounds, before facing the Battalion and Storm over the weekend.
Games this week: @ Soo (Nov. 6), vs. North Bay (Nov. 8), @ Guelph (Nov. 10)
5. Everett Silvertips (WHL): With a victory over Wenatchee (5-2) along with an overtime loss to Tri-City (6-5) over the last seven days, the Everett Silvertips (13-2-1-0) are down one spot to fifth in this week’s rankings. The Silvertips are one of only two teams in the WHL to have won at least eight of their last 10 – the one other team is the Americans who handed Everett its most recent loss. Everett is one of three CHL clubs to have won 13 games this season and is in the midst of an eight-game point streak (7-0-1-0). Selected to compete for Team CHL at the 2024 CHL USA Prospects Challenge from November 26-27, 2025 NHL Draft prospect Carter Bear (14G-13A in 16 GP) registered a pair of three-point outings last week. Bear is up to 14 goals and 27 points on the season, both of which rank second in the WHL. Through 16 games during the 2024-25 campaign, Bear has now registered eight multi-point outings, including six contests with three points or more. This week, Bear and the Silvertips will endeavour to extend their eight-game point streak when they face the Americans in a rematch on Friday night before they will head back home to welcome the Calgary Hitmen and Red Deer Rebels. For the better part of the next seven days, Everett will be playing in the absence of 15-year-old defenceman Landon DuPont, who is away captaining Canada Red at the World U17 Hockey Challenge in Sarnia.
Games this week: @ Tri-City (Nov. 8), vs. Calgary (Nov. 9), vs. Red Deer (Nov. 11)
6. Prince George Cougars (WHL): With a pair of wins to their name last week, the Prince George Cougars (9-4-2-2) have climbed up one spot to No. 6 in the CHL’s Top-10 rankings. Thanks to victories against Moose Jaw (4-1) and Kamloops (6-3), the Cougars have recorded a point in four straight games (3-0-0-1). During their two games last week, Washington Capitals prospect Terik Parascak (9G-13A in 13 GP) registered three points in both of them. Parascak is now riding a six-game point streak, having accrued 15 points (5G-10A) over that time. Meanwhile, Los Angeles Kings prospect Koehn Ziemmer (10G-6A in 10 GP) recorded his first hat-trick of the season in the Cougars’ 6-3 victory over the Blazers. Ziemmer has six multi-point outings in 10 games to start the 2024-25 campaign, including three games with two goals or more. Selected to compete for Team CHL at the 2024 CHL USA Prospects Challenge from November 26-27, 2025 NHL Draft prospect Joshua Ravensbergen (9-1-2-1 record, 2.96 GAA, .903 SV% in 13 GP) has tallied wins in three consecutive starts. Ravensbergen’s nine victories rank tied for the second in the WHL trailing only Everett’s Jesse Sanche (10). This week, Prince George will begin a six-game homestand with games against the Blades and the Giants. Specifically, the Cougars’ contest tonight against Saskatoon is the CHL Game of the Week, and it will be available to watch for free on CHL TV when the puck drops at 7:00 p.m. PT.
Games this week: vs. Saskatoon (Nov. 5), vs. Vancouver (Nov. 9), vs. Vancouver (Nov. 10)
7. Kitchener Rangers (OHL): Riding a CHL-best 14-game point streak (12-0-1-1) to go along with nine straight victories, the Kitchener Rangers (12-2-1-1) are making their debut of the season in the CHL Top-10 Rankings at No. 7. In addition to catapulting into these rankings, the Rangers have made their way to the top of the OHL’s overall standings. Over the last week, Kitchener extended its pair of streaks by netting victories over Sarnia (6-1), Sudbury (8-4), and Saginaw (4-2) by a combined score of 18-7. Leading the way for the Rangers over the last week was Vegas Golden Knights prospect Trent Swick (7G-11A in 11 GP), along with 2025 NHL Draft prospects Luca Romano (8G-10A in 16 GP) and Cameron Reid (4G-15A in 16 GP) – who all three registered seven points over the last seven days. Selected to compete for Team CHL at the 2024 CHL USA Prospects Challenge from November 26-27, Reid has gotten points in five straight contests (2G-8A over that stretch), while Romano is on a four-game point streak (5G-5A over that stretch). Additionally, goaltender Jackson Parsons (9-2-1-0 record, 2.73 GAA, .905 SV% in 12 GP) earned a pair of victories while registering a 1.50 goals-against average, and a .952 save percentage over his two starts last week as he was named the OHL Goaltender of the Week. Having started the season with a 0-2-1-0 record, Parsons has won nine straight starts dating back to October 6. This week, Parsons and the Rangers will look to continue to extend their winning streak when they face the Greyhounds, Attack, and Generals.
Games this week: vs. Soo (Nov. 8), @ Owen Sound (Nov. 9), @ Oshawa (Nov. 10)
8. Rimouski Océanic (QMJHL): Having split their contests over the last seven days, the Rimouski Océanic (10-5-0-1) slipped a couple of places to eighth. Despite their underwhelming week, the Océanic have still come away with seven victories over their last 10 games (7-2-0-1), including one over the Titan (3-2) on Saturday. Through their up-and-down week, Anaheim Ducks prospect Alexandre Blais (6G-13A in 14 GP) registered a pair of three-point outings. Blais has just been held off the scoresheet twice this season, having registered a point in 12 of 14 contests. Meanwhile, earlier on Monday, Vegas Golden Knights prospect Mathieu Cataford was named to the CHL Team of the Month having registered a QMJHL-best 26 points in September and October. The reigning QMJHL MVP was held off the scoresheet in both of the Océanic’s games, marking the first time he’s gone pointless in consecutive games since last February 28-29. This week, Rimouski will need Cataford and others to be at their best as the Océanic carry on with their six-game homestand with contests against the No.10-ranked Saguenéens, the No.2-ranked Voltigeurs, and Saint John.
Games this week: vs. Chicoutimi (Nov. 6), vs. Drummondville (Nov. 8), vs. Saint John (Nov. 9)
9. Niagara IceDogs (OHL): By splitting both of their games over the last seven days, the Niagara IceDogs (11-4-0-0) fell a place to No. 9 this week. The IceDogs continue to sit third in the OHL’s overall standings as they are one of only three teams in the OHL to have won at least 11 games this season. After going pointless through a pair of games, Winnipeg Jets prospect Kevin He (12G-11A in 15 GP) registered a pair of points including the game-winning goal in the IceDogs’ 4-3 overtime victory over the Sudbury Wolves. He continues to rank among the OHL’s Top-10 scoring leaders this season thanks to his 23 points. Meanwhile, 2026 NHL Draft prospect Ryan Roobroeck (9G-8A in 15 GP) has strung together a three-game point streak, having also collected at least a point in five of his last seven games (4G-4A over that stretch). This week, Niagara will prepare themselves for a busy week when they will play three games in three nights with contests against the Otters, the Sting, and the Bulldogs.
Games this week: vs. Erie (Nov. 7), vs. Sarnia (Nov. 8), @ Brantford (Nov. 9)
10. Chicoutimi Saguenéens (QMJHL): Having won six contests in a row, marking the longest active winning streak in the QMJHL, the Chicoutimi Saguenéens (10-3-2-2) are making their debut in the Top-10 this week in tenth. Over their six-game winning streak, the Saguenéens have lived on the edge, taking four of those six contests in either overtime or a shootout. So far this season, Chicoutimi has played in eight games that have gone an extra frame or in a shootout, the most of any team in the CHL (they’ve won four of those eight contests). Impressively, over their recent stretch of six victories, the Sags have accomplished the feat in the absence of Anaheim Ducks prospect Maxim Massé (out another 2-to-4 weeks with an ankle injury) and two-time QMJHL champion Kassim Gaudet (out another 4-to-6 weeks with an injury) who are both out with injuries. Stepping up in their place have been 19-year-old forward Emmanuel Vermette (11G-12A in 17 GP), 2025 NHL Draft prospect Nathan Lecompte (3G-10A in 17 GP), and 19-year-old Loïc Usereau (4G-12A in 16 GP). Usereau is riding a five-game point streak, having accrued six points (2G-4A) over that stretch. Vermette has points over four straight contests and his 23 points this season place him among the top-10 scorers of the QMJHL. Meanwhile, over the six-game winning streak, Lecompte has three goals and six points over that stretch, with points in four of six of those contests. Meanwhile, not to be forgotten is the Sags’ defensive play, as the club has given up two goals or fewer in five consecutive contests. This week, they will look to continue the latter when they hit the road for games against the No.8-ranked Océanic, the Phoenix, and the Olympiques.
Games this week: @ Rimouski (Nov. 6), @ Sherbrooke (Nov. 8), @ Gatineau (Nov. 10)
