Peyton Krebs impressed in the 2018-19 season as he led the ICE with 19 goals and 68 points in 64 games. In all, it was a busy year for the budding centre, who also starred with Team Canada at the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. That tournament saw Krebs collect five points in as many games en route to a gold medal finish. He then wrapped up the year in captaining Canada at the 2019 IIHF U18 World Championship where he finished with a team-leading 10 points in seven games and was named one of Team Canada’s top three players. Krebs is the 10th-ranked North American skater in NHL Central Scouting’s Final Draft Rankings.

Krebs describes himself as a two-way centre who plays a 200-foot game. The Okotoks, Alta., native is known for his speed, puck possession, and solid hockey IQ. He likens his game to Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, in his ability to exhibit strong two-way play, consistency, and leadership. The first-overall selection in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft, Krebs led all WHL rookies in scoring in 2017-18 with 54 points.

“Great motor, leadership qualities and proficient skill set,” writes Sportsnet’s Sam Cosentino. “Works his tail off nightly (and) makes those around him better.”
