2019 NHL Draft Profile – Connor McMichael
Connor McMichael scored 36 goals and 72 points with the London Knights in 2018-19. The Ajax, Ont., native split the previous year between the Knights and Hamilton Bulldogs as he broke into the OHL. In London, McMichael has relished the opportunity to play under longtime bench boss Dale Hunter as well as a host of future NHL stars including Knights captain Evan Bouchard, Adam Boqvist, Liam Foudy, and Alex Formenton. McMichael is the 24th-ranked North American skater in NHL Central Scouting’s Final Draft Rankings.
McMichael is a two-way centreman who can put the puck in the net. He compares his game to former Knights forward Bo Horvat. Given that the NHL is becoming a faster game, McMichael’s goal is to improve his first three strides of his skating.
“Shoots and passes like a pro,” writes Sportsnet’s Sam Cosentino. “Great skating ability allows him to transition well and consistently be a part of the rush.”
