Little Caesars clinch Semi-Finals with 4-3 victory
The Detroit Little Caesars edged a relentless TPH squad 4-3 to secure their spot in the 2025 OHL Cup Semi-Finals.
TPH entered the matchup undefeated at 4-0-0, while Little Caesars came in at 3-1-0, hungry to prove themselves. Sarvir Jaworski (1) opened the scoring on the power play in the first period, setting the tone early for Detroit. However, TPH responded quickly, with Mitchell Mars (1) evening the score before the first intermission.
The second period turned into a defensive chess match, as both teams locked it down and refused to give an inch.
The third period flipped the script. Brock Burch (3) capitalized on another power play to put Little Caesars up 2-1, followed shortly by Jaworski’s (2) second goal of the game to extend the lead.
Norman Greene (3) clawed one back for TPH, but Gunner Gullstrand (4) restored the two-goal cushion. Despite Cole Mazzoni’s (2) late power-play marker, his second of the game, TPH’s comeback bid came up short.
“We played physically, fast, and just came out hard,” said Burch post-game. “We fought hard and ended up coming out with the win.
Jaworski, with two goals and a standout performance, earned star of the game honours alongside TPH’s Miles Jinman, who battled to keep his team in it from start to finish.
Little Caesars now shifts its focus to tonight’s 8:00 PM Semi-Final against the Toronto Jr. Canadiens.
