Bulldogs shut down TPH Hockey in 1-0 win
The Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs returned to the OHL Cup for the first time since 2016, starting their quest for a championship with a 1-0 blanking of TPH Hockey.
Returning to the rink after their morning win, TPH was unable to find their way past Bulldogs’ netminder Julian Salvati, who posted 22 saves for the shutout. Brayden Russell (1) scored the game’s lone-goal in the first period.
“It feels good to get the shutout, I’m hoping we can keep up the intensity in our next game against a tough opponent. I think we played a strong defensive game, especially in those last few minutes. Everyone played as a team and did their part,” said Salvati.
Salvati and TPH’s Aidan Mckenna would each earn Player of the Game honours after defending the creases in Wednesday afternoon’s low-scoring game.
Hamilton looks to clinch their second win of the day against the Mississauga Senators at 8:45pm.
PLAYER OF THE GAME:
Bulldogs – Julian Salvati (G) – 22 SV SO
