North York holds off Marlboros, advance to Semi-Finals with 4-1 win
The North York Rangers came out on top, taking down the Toronto Marlboros 4-1 in Quarter-Final action.
Underage forward Camryn Warren (2) initiated the scoring early for the Rangers. The Marlies quickly retaliated with a goal from Adam Valentini (5), leveling the game as they entered the second period. Tyler Challenger (4) would emerge as the difference-maker, scoring the game-winning goal with five minutes remaining in the second period. The Rangers further secured their victory with Brady Smith (9) and Jacob Bultje (1) sealing the deal with empty-net goals.
“We played a great game this morning. When we get going, it’s hard to stop us, I truly love this group and I think we’re going to do something special here,” said Warren. “We have to continue working hard, the boys want to play on the big stage at the Mattamy on Saturday.”
With his game-opening goal, Warren earned Player of the Game honours for North York, while Valentini received the honours for Toronto.
Pierce Mbuyi (6-7–13) had 13 points to lead Toronto in scoring, while Valentini (5-7-12) trailed with 12 as the Marlboros finish with a record of 3-2.
North York will take on Oakville in the battle of the Rangers in Semi-Final action at 6:00pm.
