Spirit retire Brandon Saad’s #22
The Saginaw Spirit retired Brandon Saad’s #22 in a ceremony prior to Friday’s matchup against the North Bay Battalion at the Dow Event Center.
The 31-year-old is currently in his 12th full NHL Season having won Stanley Cups with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2013 and 2015. The Pittsburgh, PA native is currently a member of the St. Louis Blues and played two seasons in Saginaw from 2010-12, recording 61 goals, 70 assists and 131 points over 103 regular season games.
Saad joins Vincent Trocheck (2009-13) as the second Spirit graduate to have his number retired by the franchise.
