Carter George Goalie Goal: OHL History Made With Second Career Goal
Carter George has made Ontario Hockey League history once again.
The Soo Greyhounds goaltender fired the puck into the empty net late in the game, securing his second career goalie goal in the Ontario Hockey League. With the goal, George became the first goaltender in OHL history to score two goals during his time in the league, a milestone no other netminder has reached in the OHL. George is only the second goaltender in CHL history to score two goals, joining François Brassard, who accomplished the feat in the QMJHL during the 2014-15 season.
George’s latest goal comes one season after his first, further separating him in a rare category that few goaltenders ever enter. In addition to the league milestone, the goal also made George the second goaltender in Soo Greyhounds history to score a goal, following Nolan Lalonde’s tally during the 2024-25 season.
A prospect of the Los Angeles Kings and a Canadian World Junior goaltender, George continues to build a standout junior resume that now includes a rare piece of OHL history. After the game, he admitted the idea crossed his mind well before the puck left his stick.
“It’s probably bad to say, but I knew at four minutes I was gonna try at least once,” George told the Sault Star’s Janson Duench. “Once I got that puck and I saw them go for a change, I knew I had a a lane and I kind of whiffed on it, actually, so I was all pissed at that. And then I realized it had legs and it was still good.”
Goalie goals remain one of the rarest moments in hockey, requiring a mix of timing, awareness, and a little luck. George’s second career tally not only added another highlight to his season, but further cemented his place in the OHL record book with a moment few goaltenders ever experience.
