OHL Cup – Results from Day 3
York Simcoe 11, Ottawa Valley 1
Daniel Locilento scored two goals and assisted on three others to lead the York Simcoe Express (1-2-0) to an 11-1 win over the Ottawa Valley Titans (0-3-0).
Kyle Lamb also had two goals while Curtis Vickers, Josh Diamond and Craig Woods added singles. Steve Downie had three assists in the win.
Marshall Huband scored late in the third period for Ottawa Valley.
Great North All-Stars 2, Mississauga Senators 2
Ryan O’Marra and Alex Mead scored third period for the Mississauga Senators (1-0-1) goals in a 2-2 tie with the Great North All-Stars (0-1-1).
Andrew Harrison, in the first period, and Scott Lavigne, on a second period powerplay, gave Great North a two goal lead going into the third period.
Toronto Young Nats 6, Waterloo Wolves 4
Patrick Sexton scored two goals, including the game-winner in the second period to help the Toronto Young Nats (3-0-0) to a 6-4 win over the Waterloo Wolves (0-3-0).
Scott Giles and Kevin Baker also scored two goals each for the Young Nats, who clinched a berth in the semi-finals on Sunday.
Patrick Landman, Ryan Lawrence, Jordan Schultz and Bill Walkey scored for Waterloo.
Detroit Little Caesars 3, Whitby Wildcats 2
Scott Zimmerman scored two powerplay goals, including the game-winner in the third period to lead Detroit Little Caesars (2-1-0) to a 3-2 win over the Whitby Wildcats (1-2-0).
Matt Suggs also scored and Brad O’Shell had two assists in the win.
Jason Cassidy and Justin Fox each had a goal and an assist for Whitby.
Plymouth Compuware 3, Peterborough Petes 3
Captain Patrick Asselin scored two goals to help the Peterborough Petes (1-1-1) to a 3-3 tie with Plymouth Compuware (1-1-1).
Adam Perry also scored and Mark McDonnell contributed two assists for the Petes.
Jon Jacob had a goal and an assist for Plymouth Compuware. Irving Ronk and Jameson Raymond also scored for Plymouth.
Toronto Marlies 2, Cambridge Hawks 1
Ryan McInerney scored the winning goal in the first period to lift the Toronto Marlies (3-0-0) to a 2-1 win over the Cambridge Hawks (1-2-0).
Captain Brian Soso also scored for the Marlies, who clinched a semi-final berth with the win.
Adam Kneale brought Cambridge to within one goal with a third period powerplay goal.
Great North All-Stars 8, Nepean Raiders 3
Frank Desbiens scored two goals and added an assist to power the Great North All-Stars (1-1-1) to an 8-3 win over the Nepean Raiders (0-3-0).
Chris Purawec also had two goals in the win with Andrew Harrison, Craig Montgomery, J.F. Houle and Cassidy Preston, with a short-handed effort, scoring singles.
Kyle Buchanan, Scott Cowie and Pat Tallis scored for Nepean.
Sun County Panthers 4, Mississauga Senators 3 (OT)
Josh Beaulieu scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lift the Sun County Panthers (3-0-0) to a 4-3 win over the Mississauga Senators (1-1-1). Sun County advanced to the semi-finals with the win.
Kyle Kudroch and Patrick Oulette added powerplay goals in the win.
Ryan Bernardi scored twice, including the tying goal with 3:21 left in the third period. Nick Sucharski also scored for Mississauga.
Thunder Bay 5, Vaughan 1
Chris Bryson and Justin Gvora scored two goals each to help the Thunder Bay Kings (3-0-0) to a 5-1 win over the Vaughan Kings (2-1-0).
Tom Pyatt added a short-handed goal in the win.
David Barbieri replied for Vaughan.
