OHL Cup – Results from Day 4
Toronto Young Nats 6, Sun COunty Panthers 2
Patrick Sexton scored two goals, including the game-winner 2:21 into the third period to help the Toronto Young Nationals to a 6-2 win over the Sun County Panthers in the Championship Game of 2003 OHL Cup Showcase Tournament.
Kevin Baker also scored two goals, with Phil Oreskovic, and Mike Gurtler adding singles. Brad Snetsinger and Billy Siekris each had two assists in the win.
Jhase Sniderman, who won the Tim Adams Memorial Trophy as the MVP of the tournament, picked up the win in net for the Young Nationals.
Joey McCann and Patrick Oullette scored for Sun County.
Toronto Marlies 2, Thunder Bay Kings 1
Tony Iaquinto scored the game-winner in the last minute of the third period to lift the Toronto Marlies to a 2-1 win over the Thunder Bay Kings in the Bronze Medal game of the 2003 OHL Cup SHowcase Tournament.
Ryan McInerney, Toronto’s player of the game, added a goal and an assist in the game.
Andy Hyvarien scored for Thunder Bay and was named player of the game for the Kings.
Sun County Panthers 4, Thunder Bay Kings 3 (2OT)
Steven Tourangeau scored the winning goal in double overtime to give the Sun County Panthers a 4-3 win and a berth in the finals of the 2003 OHL Cup Showcase Tournament.
Riley Jakob, Chase Crowder and Patrick Oullette also scored in the win.
Marc Staal, Bobby Bolt and Andy Hyvarinen, who tied the game with 22 seconds left in the third period with an extra attacker on for the goalie, scored for Thunder Bay.
Sun County faces the Toronto Young Nats for the OHL Cup Championship this afternoon. Thunder Bay and the Toronto Marlboros will play for the Bronze medal at 2:00 p.m.
Toronto Young Nats 1, Toronto Marlies 0 (2OT)
Young Nats captain Scott Giles scored the game-winning goal 1:55 into the second overtime period to lift the Toronto Young Nats to a 1-0 win over the Toronto Marlies n the first semi-final game. The Young Nats advance to the Gold Medal Game this afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
Jhase Sniderman earned the shutout in net for the Young Nats.
Micahel Iafrate was in net for the Toronto Marlies, who play in the Bronze medal game this afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
