YourTV’s #OHLDay set for Sunday
Sunday January 28 is Hockey Day in the OHL!
For the fifth straight year fans across Ontario can enjoy a tripleheader of live action plus exclusive OHL coverage on YourTV networks.
The broadcast begins at 1:00 pm from North Bay when the Battalion host the Niagara IceDogs. At 4:00 pm, viewers in Windsor, Sarnia, and Chatham will watch the Spitfires visit the Firebirds, while the rest of the province will enjoy the Kingston Frontenacs hosting the Peterborough Petes. The day wraps up with a 7:00 pm contest between the Sarnia Sting and host Hamilton Bulldogs.
All games will be part of a full day of continuous OHL coverage on YourTV in markets across Ontario.
In addition to the on-ice action, the broadcast will include feature stories from across the OHL, including:
-A personal story of how Alzheimers has touched Kingston Frontenacs forward Liam Murray’s family and how he is helping raise awareness and hope.
-Logan DeNoble grew up as a fan of the Peterborough Petes and has lived out a childhood dreaming of playing for his hometown team.
-Niagara IceDogs locker room attendant Greg McPherson brings smiles to the dressing room and doesn’t let having Down Syndrome get in the way of doing his job.
-OHL clubs spend time working with minor hockey teams in their cities. We get a look at the Windsor Spitfires working with an Atom team.
-We go behind-the-scenes with Steven Stamkos as he describes what having his jersey retired by the Sarnia Sting meant to him.
-North Bay minor hockey players are receiving high-level coaching from the Battalion in return for running food drives.
-Jake Murray of the Hamilton Bulldogs did not let being diagnosed with cancer get in the way of his hockey dreams.
The day-long coverage will also include studio guests such as OHL Director of Recruitment Daniel Broussard, OHL alumnus Brock McGillis, some one-on-one segments with top OHL players eligible for the NHL Draft, and some teammate trivia with the Sting’s Nick Grima and Kelton Hatcher.
