Thursday Highlights: Lockhart’s career night powers Otters

– Vancouver Canucks Prospect Connor Lockhart broke out with his first two goals on the season to accompany a pair of assists, giving him a career-high four-point performance.
– Brendan Hoffmann scored twice for the Otters
– Spencer Sova and Owain Johnston scored their first career OHL goals.
– Down 4-0, the IceDogs scored three consecutive to make a game of things before Lockhart’s game winner.
– The IceDogs were without goaltender Tucker Tynan, blueliner Dakota Betts and rookie forward Juan Copeland.
– The win was Erie’s first cross-border contest of the season. Their last game in Canada was March 7, 2020, a 4-2 win in Niagara against the IceDogs.

– North Bay had goals from six different scorers, with the turning point coming late in the second period as Paul Christopoulos and Owen Van Steensel scored six seconds apart.
– Van Steensel’s goal was his first in the OHL and it stood as the game winner.
-With one assist in the game, Ty Nelson continues to lead OHL rookie defencemen in scoring, and now sits just one point back of Calum Ritchie in the rookie scoring race.
– Brandon Coe became the sixth player in North Bay Battalion history to play in 200 regular season games with the club.
– Peterborough’s Emmett Sproule scored to extend his point streak to 10 games, tying him for the longest streak in the OHL this season.
– The Petes were without captain Shawn Spearing on the blueline.
– Michael Simpson made 29 saves in the loss, his seventh consecutive start for Peterborough.
– Rookie defenceman Stevie Leskovar made his OHL debut.
– Tonight’s contest marked the 65th anniversary of the very first Peterborough Petes game. Nov 4th, 1956 against the Toronto Marlies.
