Sting’s Rees signs with Hurricanes
RALEIGH, NC – Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has signed center Jamieson Rees to a three-year, entry-level contract.
“Jamieson is a skilled center with strong playmaking ability,” said Waddell. “He made major strides in his development last season, and we’re looking forward to his next steps.”
Rees, 19, tallied 61 points (18g, 43a) in 39 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) games with the Sarnia Sting in 2019-20. The 5’10”, 182-pound forward ranked tied for fourth in the OHL in shorthanded goals (5) and 11th in points per game (1.56) last season. Rees has registered 113 points (33g, 80a) in 122 career OHL games with Sarnia. The Hamilton, Ont., native represented Canada at the 2019 IIHF World Under-18 Championship, posting eight points (2g, 6a) in seven games and leading the team in assists. Rees was drafted by the Hurricanes in the second round, 44th overall, of the 2019 NHL Draft.
