Steelheads’ Del Bel Belluz signs with Blue Jackets
Columbus, Ohio – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed Mississauga Steelheads center Luca Del Bel Belluz to a three-year, entry level contract, General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Del Bel Belluz, 19, was selected by the Blue Jackets in the second round, 44th overall at the 2022 NHL Draft. He has registered 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points with four penalty minutes, five power play goals, 71 shots and a +1 plus/minus rating in 21 games for Mississauga of the Ontario Hockey League this season. He leads the club in power play goals, ranks second in goals and points and is third-T in assists. The 6-1, 184-pound center started the season with a five-game points streak (3-4-7) and has recorded eight multi-point outings.
A native of Woodbridge, Ontario, Del Bel Belluz has totaled 44-64-108, 40 PIM, 17 PPG, nine game-winning goals, 276 shots and a cumulative +11 plus/minus rating in 147 career games with the Steelheads since making his OHL debut in 2019-20. He registered 30-46-76, 12 PPG, 177 shots and was +23 in 68 contests in 2021-22, leading the team in assists and finishing second in goals, points and plus/minus rating.
