Spirit sign goaltender Egor Sokolov

Saginaw, Mich. – Spirit GM Dave Drinkill announced Thursday that the team has signed goaltender Egor Sokolov to an OHL Standard Player Agreement.

Saginaw drafted Sokolov in the third round (45th overall) of the 2026 OHL Priority Selection. The 16-year-old started each of Saginaw’s first two games this season, helping them secure a point in Friday night’s overtime loss to the Soo Greyhounds with 26 saves. Sokolov also appeared in a pair of games for the Spirit in this year’s preseason.

The Spirit selected Sokolov from the Toronto Marlboros U16 AAA team. He is a left-catching goaltender standing at 6’2, 200lbs and was the 86th-ranked prospect on the Consensus Ontario Top-100 List for the 2026 OHL Priority Selection. He will be reassigned to Saginaw’s GOHL affiliate, the Chatham Maroons.
