Petes’ Jones puts together 2nd annual Shutout Hunger Food Drive

Peterborough Petes goaltender Hunter Jones put together the 2nd annual Shutout Hunger Skate & Food Drive on Sunday in his hometown of Brantford, Ont.

The event featured other local OHL talent in attendance including Petes teammate John Parker-Jones (Brantford, Ont.) Soo Greyhounds defenceman Holden Wale (Brantford, Ont.), Kingston Frontenacs forward Maddox Callens (Langton, Ont.), Niagara IceDogs forward Andrew Bruder (Woodstock, Ont.) as well as University of New Hampshire women’s team member Emily Rickwood (Brantford, Ont.).

Jones announced via twitter (@ShutoutsJones) on Monday that the community skate raised $300 in cash donations in addition to 305Ibs. of food being donated to the Brantford Food Bank.

Jones, who recently attended Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp, is among the OHL’s goaltending leaders this season, posting the league’s second-lowest goals-against average (2.45) and third-highest save percentage (.921) through 25 games. The 19-year-old was a second round pick of the Minnesota Wild this past summer.
