Greyhounds’ Mignosa named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week:
Marco Mignosa of the Soo Greyhounds is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, registering four goals, four assists and eight points over three road games. Details
Rangers’ Parsons named OHL Goaltender of the Week:
Jackson Parsons of the Kitchener Rangers is the OHL Goaltender of the Week, going 2-0-0-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average, and a .952 save percentage. Details

The 2024 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge got underway on Sunday at Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia with 19 OHL players competing in the event across two Canadian teams. Both Canada White and Canada Red have advanced to Friday’s semifinal round. Details

OHL Hires Matt Walker as Director of Marketing and Events:
The OHL has hired Matt Walker as the League’s new Director of Marketing and Events. Walker, who joins the OHL from Canada Basketball, will take a leading role in the OHL’s brand presentation along with planning and execution of League events. Details

Rangers’ Parsons becomes first OHL player to commit to NCAA program, to join Clarkson for 2025-26:
Overage Kitchener Rangers goaltender Jackson Parsons became the first OHL player to announce his intention to play NCAA DIvision I men’s hockey, committing to the Clarkson University Golden Knights for 2025-26. Parsons, from Embrun, Ont., is in his fourth year with the Rangers and is off to a great start, playing to a mark of 9-2-1-0 with a 2.73 goals-against average and .905 save percentage for the league-leading Rangers. The NCAA Division I council ruled Thursday that Canadian Hockey League players will be eligible to play NCAA DI men’s hockey effective August 1, 2025.
Brady Stonehouse returns to 67’s:
After starting the season in the Edmonton Oilers organization, overage winger Brady Stonehouse will be back with the Ottawa 67’s this weekend. The Blenheim, Ont. native dealt with an injury through the preseason and returns to the Barber Poles after putting up 44 points (20-24–44) over 64 games last season. The Oilers signed Stonehouse as a free agent on Oct. 5, 2023. Details
Firebirds sign forward Hayden Reid:
The Flint Firebirds announced on Monday that the team has signed forward Hayden Reid to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. The 2006-born forward had a verbal commitment to play NCAA hockey for the University of Minnesota, which was announced in October of 2023. Reid joins the Firebirds after playing the last season plus for the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL. He has appeared in six games for the Stampede this season and recorded three assists. Details
Sting sign forward Ryder Simpson:
The Sarnia Sting has signed 16-year-old Ryder Simpson to an Ontario Hockey League Scholarship and Development Agreement. Selected in the fourth round, 81st overall, Sarnia added Simpson in this year’s 2024 OHL Priority Selection from the Guelph Jr. Gryphons U16 AAA program. Details

The Peterborough Petes and Gavin Bryant announced today that they will be continuing the Gav’s Corner initiative aimed at uniting and supporting individuals impacted by Type 1 Diabetes. The initiative was started by Bryant and the Niagara IceDogs in September of this year. Details

The Flint Firebirds are set to host their Pucks Four Paws game on Friday night, benefitting the Humane Society of Genesee County. NHL Debut – Isaiah George:
Tuesday night was a dream come true for Isaiah George, who played his first NHL game with the New York Islanders at the age of 20. George skated for 15:41 and recorded one shot on goal as New York defeated the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 in a shootout at UBS Arena. A left-handed defenceman from Oakville, Ont., George played three seasons with the London Knights in the OHL (2021-24), earning titles as a two-time Western Conference Champion and 2023-24 OHL Champion. Thompson scores first NHL goal:
Former Sudbury Wolves and Soo Greyhounds defenceman Jack Thompson scored his first career NHL goal on Tuesday, finding the back of the net as the San Jose Sharks defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1. Thompson, 22, has recorded four points (1-3–4) through seven games with the Sharks this season after being acquired by San Jose from the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2023-24. The Courtice, Ont. product played three OHL seasons between the Wolves and Greyhounds between 2018 and 2022, recording 105 points (40-65–105) over 180 regular season contests.
