OHL Behind the Scenes: Rangers’ Adam Bramhill
Throughout the off-season, the Ontario Hockey League will be spotlighting a member from each of our teams’ front office staffs as we look to highlight those working “Behind the Scenes” of the day-to-day operations.
The newest edition features Kitchener Rangers Vice President of Operations, Adam Bramhill.
AB: My name is Adam Bramhill and I am the Vice President of Operations for the Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club. I started as a Game Operations volunteer in the 2002-03 season while I was finishing the Sports Administration Program at Durham College. I was lucky enough to move into a full-time role the next season and have been with the team in various capacities ever since.
What are your responsibilities as the Kitchener Rangers Vice President of Operations?
AB: We have an incredible staff in Kitchener. My role is to help our team with the day-to-day business operations, with the key areas being ticketing, corporate partnerships, game and event operations, marketing and communications, merchandising, finance, and community relations.
What led you to your current role?
AB: I am fortunate that I have been provided plenty of opportunities in Kitchener. I started in Game Operations and Sales and have been involved with several events and community endeavors over the years. After some time, I was able to help run our retail operation, Rangers Authentics, and when we brought in our new videoboard, I was able to learn some technical skills in the operation and maintenance of that equipment. I’ve worked closely with different members of our hockey operations staff and have worked alongside the great staff at The Aud for Rangers games and other events. Those experiences, along with many others, and working with many smart and talented people in and around our organization have helped me get an understanding of our overall operation. I am thankful that our leadership, including Steve Bienkowski and now Joe Birch, have been great mentors and have provided the opportunity for growth here.
Throughout your time spent with the Rangers, how would you describe the organization?
AB: Kitchener is a special place. With the Rangers you have an opportunity to learn and grow with a group of great people and gain a lot of experience in different areas. We have had many great people come through our organization. We’ve also been able to host many events, including Canada/Russia games, Top Prospects Games, and the Memorial Cup. In our business we work a lot of hours, including many evenings and weekends, but I still enjoy coming into the rink each day because of the people that I have the privilege to work with and the environment that we get to work in.
A team with an incredibly loyal fanbase, how important is the Kitchener-Waterloo region community to the team?
AB: Waterloo Region is everything to the Rangers. We have a knowledgeable fanbase that provides us with incredible support. You see our logo on something almost everywhere you go. We also receive outstanding support from the corporate community along with great media coverage. This is not something that our team takes for granted. This support encourages our team to give back as much as we can while striving to build great relationships and experiences with all our stakeholders. On game days, The Aud is a little community in itself and it is a fun place to be.
What is something that you look forward to building on this season?
AB: A new season always brings a fresh start with renewed optimism. We have new faces on the ice and in the front office. I look forward to working with all of them as we continue to create new programs and try new things to build excitement around our team and our community.
