NHL Debut: Rory Kerins (Jan. 13, 2025)
Rory Kerins picked up a pair of assists in his NHL debut on Monday, suiting up for the Calgary Flames in a 5-2 road win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
Kerins, who broke into the NHL at the age of 22, found chemistry with linemate Jakob Pelletier, setting him up for a pair of goals as the point-per-game player in the AHL continued to find the scoresheet at the highest level.
Kerins played three seasons for the Soo Greyhounds from 2018-22, graduating with 118 points (43-75–118) over 67 games in his final season. The Flames took Kerins, who was a fourth round pick by the Hounds in 2018, in the sixth round of the 2020 NHL Draft.
Kerins’ pro career has been highly productive as he got the call to the Flames having produced 34 points (21-13–34) in 34 games with the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers. He put up 32 points (16-16–32) over 54 games with AHL Calgary last season.
