Monday Highlights: Greyhounds skate away with late victory

 

SAULT STE. MARIE 3 – FLINT 1 – SSM leads series 2-1
Boston Bruins first round pick Zach Senyshyn (2) re-directed a Conor Timmins point shot with 6:23 left in the third period as the Soo Greyhounds narrowly escaped Flint with a 3-1 victory after an empty netter by Boris Katchouk (3). Hosting their first ever OHL Playoff game, the Firebirds came out hungry, opening the scoring on a goal from Kole Sherwood (2), eventually outshooting Sault Ste. Marie 34-28. Joseph Raaymakers got the start for the Hounds in Game 3 and was brilliant, turning aside 33 shots to backstop his team to a 2-1 series lead. Tim Gettinger (1) also scored for the Hounds as they held the Firebirds to 0-for-8 on the man advantage. The Firebirds look to regroup ahead of Wednesday night’s Game 4 on home ice.

OWEN SOUND 4 – KITCHENER 0 – OS leads series 2-1
Santino Centorame (2) and Kevin Hancock (2) each had a goal and an assist while Michael McNiven stopped all 21 shots that came his way as the Owen Sound Attack blanked the Kitchener Rangers 4-0 on the road in Game 3. 2017 NHL Draft prospect Nick Suzuki (2, 3) had a pair of goals including an empty netter as the Attack climb ahead 2-1 in the series after outshooting the Blueshirts 45-21. St. Louis Blues prospect Luke Opilka made 41 saves in goal for the Rangers as they look to battle back in the series back on home ice Wednesday night.

ERIE 5 – SARNIA 3 – ER leads series 3-0
Veteran defenceman Darren Raddysh (1, 2) had two goals and an assist while captain Dylan Strome (3) pitched in with a goal and three helpers as the Erie Otters defeated the Sarnia Sting 5-3 on the road. The Game 3 victory sees the Otters grab a 3-0 series lead headed into Game 4 back in Erie on Wednesday as Alex DeBrincat (2) had a goal and two assists and Kyle Pettit (1) also found the back of the net. The Otters outshot Sarnia 40-28 as the Sting, without injured starting goaltender Justin Fazio, had a 35-save performance from Aidan Hughes. Both sides went 3-for-8 on the power play as Jordan Ernst (3), Kevin Spinozzi (3) and Jaden Lindo (1) lit the lamp for the Sting.
