Milestone Moments: October 18, 2018
RYAN BARBOSA (MISSISSAUGA STEELHEADS):
Overage defenceman Ryan Barbosa took a Ryan McLeod feed and ripped it past North Bay’s Christian Propp 7:51 into the second period, helping the Mississauga Steelheads take a 4-3 road win. It’s not often an overage player scores his first OHL goal, but in Barbosa’s case he spent part of last season with the QMJHL’s Halifax Mooseheads after originally being selected by the Ottawa 67’s in the 10th round of the 2014 OHL Priority Selection. The 20-year-old has four points (1-3–4) through 10 games this season.
DANYK DROUIN (OSHAWA GENERALS):
Oshawa Generals rookie Danyk Drouin potted his first OHL goal, helping his club defeat the Peterborough Petes 4-1 on the road. Drouin scooped up a rebound in the high slot to beat Hunter Jones inside the post midway through the second period for the eventual game winner. Nando Eggenberger picked up the lone assist as the 17-year-old Drouin got on the scoresheet for the very first time. A native of Casselman, Ont., Drouin was a 13th round pick by the Generals in 2017. His first career marker came in his sixth game.
