Matthew Buckley commits to Generals
Oshawa, Ont. – The Oshawa Generals are happy to announce Matthew Buckley has committed to the organization, ahead of the 2021-2022 OHL season.
Buckley was selected 38th overall at the 2021 OHL Priority Selection on June 4th. Listed as a Centre/Right Wing, he is sure to bring an immediate impact to a forward core that has now had two years of graduates off the roster.
Last playing in 2019 with the Oakville Rangers, Buckley was teammates with second overall selection, Calum Ritchie. In 11 games with the Rangers, Buckley scored nine goals and added six assists.
“It’s great to have Matt’s commitment to the Generals,” says team General Manager Roger Hunt. “He’ll be an exciting and dynamic forward that will fit right in with our cast of offensive-minded forwards, the likes of Brett Harrison and Ty Tullio.”
Buckley says he is looking forward to taking this next step of his hockey career with the Oshawa Generals.
“I am very honoured and grateful to be a part of such a great and storied franchise,” he said. “I am very excited for what is to come in the future with this team!”
