Matt Tovell commits to Spitfires

The Windsor Spitfires have received a commitment from 17-year-old goaltender Matt Tovell, who joined the club on Thursday.

Tovell was chosen with Windsor’s second round (25th overall) choice in the 2019 OHL Under-18 Priority Selection from the Greater Kingston Jr. Frontenacs Midget AAA team. He posted a 2.74 goals-against average over 19 regular season games last season.

The 6-foot-2, 170Ib. netminder has gotten off to a tremendous start in 2019-20, posting a league-leading 1.15 goals-against average and .950 save percentage along with a 12-2-0 record with the Lakeshore Canadiens Jr. C club.

Tovell played his Minor Midget season with the Quinte Red Devils, making an appearance in the 2018 OHL Cup Powered by Under Armour.
