OHL Power Rankings: Mar. 10, 2025
Getting down to the nitty gritty in the Week 24 edition of OHL Power Rankings! The playoffs are right around the corner!
Who’s up:
London Knights – up one spot to #2 this week
The Knights went 3-0 last week, earning shutouts in two of those outings. London is on the verge of clinching a second straight Hamilton Spectator Trophy and an impressive sixth consecutive Midwest Division title. They’ll welcome their 2005 team back to the Forest City on Tuesday when they play host to the Guelph Storm in the front-end of a home-and-home.
Oshawa Generals – up one spot to #4 this week
The Generals won two of three on the road last week, defeating Brampton and Sault Ste. Marie book-ending a 5-3 loss in Sudbury. They’ll get another crack at the Wolves in their next home date on Sunday evening. Oshawa trails first place Brantford by three points in the East Division.
Windsor Spitfires – up one spot to #6 this week
The Spits soundly defeated the Kingston Frontenacs 7-1 at home on Thursday before suffering a 7-4 loss in Kitchener as Noah Morneau scored his first OHL hat-trick. Carter Froggett got the start in both games this past weekend. The Spits are home to Erie on Tuesday before taking on the Soo Greyhounds at the WFCU Centre on Thursday.
Erie Otters – up two spots to #10 this week
The Otters skated to back-to-back wins over the Owen Sound Attack, outscoring them 11-4. NHL Draft prospect Malcolm Spence factored into the success with three goals and two assists over the weekend. Erie is back into the OHL Playoffs for a second straight year, with what looks to be a fairly firm grip on fifth place in the Western Conference, setting up a potential first round matchup against Saginaw.
Sudbury Wolves – up two spots to #12 this week
The Wolves have won four in a row, with Finn Marshall in the crease to lock down all three victories last week. San Jose Sharks prospect Quentin Musty racked up 10 points (6-4–10) as Sudbury skated to victories over Eastern Conference foes Niagara, Oshawa and Barrie. Winnipeg Jets prospect Kieron Walton leads the Wolves with 86 points (36-50–86) on the season.
North Bay Battalion – up one spot to #14 this week
The Troops helped their cause on Sunday, defeating the Ottawa 67’s 5-2 to create a four-point cushion between themselves and the Barber Poles for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Goaltender Mike McIvor continues to be North Bay’s X-factor as he earned first star recognition in Sunday’s win.
Peterborough Petes – up one spot to #16 this week
While Peterborough’s playoff prospects are fading fast, they did play spoiler last week, handing the Ottawa 67’s a pair of losses by 4-3 outcomes. The Petes knocked their striped adversaries off the power rankings, getting back on the list in Week 24.
Who’s down:
Brantford Bulldogs – down one spot to #3 this week
The Bulldogs lost a Wednesday night showdown against the London Knights, falling 5-0 on home ice to hand over a spot on the power rankings. Brantford recovered nicely, defeating the Flint Firebirds 4-2 and the Saginaw Spirit 11-3 on the road. Nick Lardis is up to 70 goals on the season, becoming the first OHL player to reach the milestone since John Tavares in 2006-07.
Barrie Colts – down one spot to #5 this week
The Colts dropped two of three on the road, losing in Saginaw and Sudbury while defeating the Soo Greyhounds 3-2 as defenceman Kashawn Aitcheson tied a franchise record with his 23rd goal of the season. The Colts continue to hold top spot in the Central Division, well on their way to clinching their first division title since 2018.
Kingston Frontenacs – down one spot to #7 this week
The Fronts had their hands full on the road in Windsor and London, losing both contests before recovering with a 4-3 overtime win on Sunday in Niagara. Newly signed Nashville Predators prospect Joey Willis scored the deciding goal in Sunday’s win as Kingston carries a 36-18-5-3 record into this week.
Flint Firebirds – down one spot to #11 this week
The Firebirds ended the week on a high note, defeating the Sarnia Sting 6-2 on Saturday night with Sam McCue burying a hat-trick and reaching the 30-goal plateau. Aside from the win, Flint lost 5-3 to Saginaw and 4-2 to Brantford, both on home ice. The Firebirds are in Owen Sound on Wednesday.
Owen Sound Attack – down two spots to #13 this week
The Bears dropped back-to-back games in Erie, pushing them two spots down the list. It’s going to be a tight race to the finish between the Attack, the Sarnia Sting, Soo Greyhounds and Guelph Storm as the four teams battle it out for the Western Conference’s final two playoff positions.
Soo Greyhounds – down two spots to #15 this week
The Hounds took a pair of losses on home ice, falling 3-2 to Barrie before losing 4-3 in a shootout to the Oshawa Generals. In positive news, overage goaltender Nolan Lalonde made his return to the crease after missing more than a month to injury.
Ottawa 67’s – down one spot and off the list this week
Things took a bleak turn for the 67’s last week as they dropped three straight, losing twice to Peterborough before falling 5-2 in North Bay on Sunday. Ottawa trails the Battalion by four points in the standings as each team has six games remaining.
