Greyhounds acquire Jack Beck from Ottawa
The Soo Greyhounds announced Friday that they’ve acquired overage forward Jack Beck from the Ottawa 67’s, adding one of the OHL’s top offensive players to their lineup.
Beck, who was a sixth-round pick of the Calgary Flames in the 2021 NHL Draft, was acquired in exchange for Sault Ste. Marie’s second-round pick in 2026 and third-round pick in 2027.
“We’re excited to welcome Jack to the Soo and we’re thrilled that he’s able to start the season with us on opening night,” said Greyhounds GM Kyle Raftis. “He’s a dynamic player and throughout his career, he’s been an offensive catalyst. From our early conversations I understood quickly that he is extra motivated for this upcoming season. We think Jack’s someone who will be a real compliment both on and off the ice as his skill set and mindset naturally fits with our group.”
A 20-year-old from Richmond Hill, Ont., Beck comes off a 2022-23 campaign that resulted in 53 points (12-41–53) over 45 games before he added 12 points (5-7–12) in 11 playoff games. Beck, who has put up and impressive 116 points (41-75–116) across 137 regular season games, has been limited by injuries in each of the past two seasons. He recently attended rookie camp with the Carolina Hurricanes.
Beck was originally a second-round pick of the Ottawa 67’s in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection. He joins the Greyhounds as their third overage player, accompanying forwards Brenden Sirizzotti and Jordan D’Intino in that department.
“I’m very excited to join the club,” said Beck. “It’s been a long summer of training and I can’t wait to get down, meet all the guys and have a great year.”
