OA Jack Beck added to Hounds roster
SAULT STE. MARIE, ON-
Soo Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis announced this morning the team has added a third overage player to the Program’s roster in advance of the regular season.
Forward Jack Beck was acquired from the Ottawa 67’s for a 3rd Round Pick in the 2027 OHL Priority Selection and 2nd Round Pick in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection (both Soo’s).
“We’re excited to welcome Jack to the Soo and we’re thrilled that he’s able to start the season with us on opening night. He’s a dynamic player and throughout his career, he’s been an offensive catalyst. From our early conversations I understood quickly that he is extra motivated for this upcoming season” started Raftis.
He then added “We think Jack’s someone who will be a real compliment both on and off the ice as his skill set and mindset naturally fits with our group.”
A native of Richmond ON, Jack was originally selected in the 2nd Round of the 2019 OHL Priority Selection by the 67’s.
He has played in three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League averaging just under a point-per-game with 41 goals, 75 assists and 116 points in 137 career regular season games played.
One season ago (2022-23) Beck had a career-best 12 goals and 41 assists (53 points) in 45 regular season games played.
In 15 career post-season games he has 8 goals and 8 assists (16 points). He was Ottawa’s 3rd-leading playoff scorer last year.
Internationally, Beck has represented Canada at the World Under 17 Hockey Challenge (2019-20), while he was also a participant at Team Canada’s World Jr. Summer camp in 2022.
The 5.11, 175 lb forward was selected in the 6th Round of the 2021 NHL Draft by the Calgary Flames but most recently appeared at the Rookie Camp of the Carolina Hurricanes.
“I’m very excited to join the club. It’s been a long summer of training and I can’t wait to get down, meet all the guys and have a great year” said the newest Greyhound.
Beck now joins Jordan D’Intino and Brenden Sirizzotti within the Hounds overage spots.
The Hounds round out the OHL exhibition schedule this coming weekend with a home-and-home series with the Saginaw Spirit starting Friday Night (Sept. 22) with a 7:07 PM game time at the GFL Memorial Gardens.
The two teams will meet twenty-four hours later in Saginaw.
