Greyhounds acquire goaltender Carter George from Attack for seven draft picks
The Soo Greyhounds have acquired goaltender Carter George from the Owen Sound Attack in exchange for seven OHL Priority Selection picks.
In return, Owen Sound receives a 2026 third-round pick (Soo), a 2027 second-round pick (Owen Sound), a 2027 fourth-round pick (Oshawa), a 2028 second-round pick (Soo), a 2028 third-round pick (Soo), a 2029 second-round pick (Soo), and a 2029 fourth-round pick (Soo).
George, a Thunder Bay, Ont. native, departs the Attack after appearing in 135 career OHL regular-season games. Originally selected 53rd overall by Owen Sound in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, the 6-foot-2, 195-pound netminder compiled a 57-55-9-8 record with a 3.22 goals-against average, .908 save percentage, and five shutouts.
Drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round (57th overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft, George signed an NHL entry-level contract in July of 2024. He made his professional debut with the Ontario Reign in April of 2025, posting a shutout, and later joined the Kings as a third goaltender during the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Internationally, George has represented Canada multiple times, winning gold at the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and the 2024 IIHF World Under-18 Championship, and most recently capturing bronze at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
“Carter has a long, well-documented history of recognition at the highest levels, both internationally and within the OHL,” said Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis. “The confidence and experience he brings to our group is something we’re extremely excited about.”
George expressed appreciation for his time in Owen Sound while looking ahead to the next chapter of his career.
“I’m incredibly grateful for my time with the Attack and for everyone who helped me grow as a player and person,” George said. “At the same time, I’m excited for the opportunity in the Soo and motivated to do whatever it takes to help this team compete.”
The move gives the Greyhounds a proven, NHL-drafted goaltender with international experience for the stretch run, while the Attack add significant draft capital to their arsenal.
