Five OHL players to represent Finland at 2025 World Juniors
Five OHL players have been selected to represent Finland at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship that gets underway on Boxing Day in Ottawa.
The Finns will look to rebound from a disappointing sixth place finish last year in Sweden with some solid OHL representation including returnees Kasper Halttunen (London Knights/San Jose Sharks), Emil Hemming (Barrie Colts/Dallas Stars) and Emil Pieniniemi (Kingston Frontenacs/Pittsburgh Penguins) along with new additions Tuomas Uronen (Kingston Frontenacs/Vegas Golden Knights) and Jesse Nurmi (London Knights/New York Islanders). Former Oshawa Generals forward Rasmus Kumpulainen (Minnesota Wild) will also be back on the squad this year.
Finland looks to return to the podium for the first time since claiming silver in 2022. They won recent gold medals in 2019, 2016 and 2014.
Finland will compete in Group A alongside Canada, Germany, Latvia and the United States. Their round robin schedule gets underway on Thursday against Canada at 7:30pm ET at the Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata.
