Five OHL Players Named to U.S. National Junior Team Selection Camp
Five OHL players are among the 29 names included on the U.S. National Junior Team preliminary roster announced Wednesday by USA Hockey.
Goaltender Kyle Keyser (Oshawa Generals), blueliner Joey Keane (Barrie Colts) and forwards Sasha Chmelevski (Ottawa 67’s), Cole Coskey (Saginaw Spirit) and Jason Robertson (Niagara IceDogs) will attend U.S. National Junior Team Selection Camp in Everett, Wash. from December 15-17.
The group is auditioning for a spot on the final 23-player roster that will represent the United States in the 2019 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Vancouver and Victoria, BC from Dec. 26, 2018 to Jan. 5, 2019.
The U.S. National Junior Team preliminary roster includes five names from last year’s bronze medal-winning squad. The U.S. has medaled in three straight World Junior Championships and will be led this year by OHL graduate John Vanbiesbrouck (Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds) as the club’s general manager and Mike Hastings of Minnesota State University as head coach.
