Petes acquire defenceman Hankai from Bulldogs
The Peterborough Petes have acquired 19-year-old defenceman and Brantford Bulldogs assistant captain Camron Hankai in exchange for a pair of future OHL Priority Selection picks. The Bowling Green State University commit recorded eight points in 36 games during his first full OHL season in 2025-26.

Brantford receives Peterborough’s fourth-round selection in 2028 and sixth-round selection in 2029.
Hankai, a 19-year-old defenceman from Simcoe, ON, was originally selected by the Bulldogs in the fourth round, 82nd overall, of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection. He established himself as a full-time OHL defenceman last season, recording two goals, six assists and eight points across 36 regular season games.
He also appeared in six playoff contests as Brantford advanced to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Championship Series.
“Camron is a big, physical defenceman who is very tough to play against,” said Petes General Manager and Vice President of Operations Michael Oke. “He’s someone who we’ve been tracking since his time with the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs in his U16 season.”
Before making the jump to the OHL, Hankai developed with the Hamilton Bulldogs U16 AAA program, recording nine goals, 18 assists and 27 points in 37 games during his 2022-23 draft season.
Hankai later spent time in the OJHL, highlighted by a 51-point season with the Haliburton County Huskies. He recorded 11 goals and 40 assists in 55 games, finishing fourth among OJHL defencemen in scoring.
The move adds an experienced presence to the Peterborough blueline. Hankai was named an assistant captain by the Bulldogs entering the 2026-27 season and is committed to Bowling Green State University following his OHL career.
