Attack’s Kirwin commits to Dalhousie
Halifax, NS – Dalhousie Tigers men’s hockey coach Chris Donnelly is pleased to announce the commitment of Barret Kirwin for the 2021-22 season.
Hailing from Barrie, Ont., Kirwin is a four-year veteran of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). A centre, he played the last season and a half with the Owen Sound Attack and scored 30 goals and added 29 assists during the 2019-20 campaign. He was named the Attack’s playoff MVP in the 2018-19 season, earning a goal and four assists in their five-game playoff run. He also earned the Attack’s Unsung Hero award that same year.
Kirwin played two and a half seasons with the Guelph Storm before joining the Attack mid-way through the 2018-19 season.
“I’m excited to start the next chapter in my life at Dalhousie, not only as an athlete but more importantly as a person,” says Kirwin. “I can’t thank Chris Donnelly enough for this opportunity.”
Kirwin has applied to the commerce program at Dalhousie.
“Everyone who has been associated with Barret comments on his relentless work ethic, leadership ability and strong character,” says Donnelly. “Those attributes coupled with his offensive abilities will make him a very important part of our lineup. Rarely has a new addition brought so much enthusiasm to our dressing room, but Barret’s reputation has our team members eager for his arrival at Dalhousie.”
