OHL Highlights: Soo Greyhounds @ Kitchener Rangers Nov. 8, 2024
Overage goaltender Jackson Parsons made history on Friday, November 8th, 2024, as he recorded his first shutout of the season, stopping all 20 shots he faced to lead the Kitchener Rangers to a dominant 4-0 victory over the Soo Greyhounds at The Aud. In addition to his stellar performance between the pipes, Parsons made history by becoming the first goaltender in Ontario Hockey League (OHL) history with a NCAA Division 1 commitment to record a shutout. This milestone adds another significant achievement to his already impressive career.
Parsons’ performance was a testament to his skill, poise, and experience, as he kept the Greyhounds off the scoreboard for the full 60 minutes. His quick reflexes and ability to read plays were on full display, especially in key moments when the Greyhounds had opportunities to cut into the lead. With his solid 20-save effort, Parsons provided the Rangers with the kind of goaltending they’ve come to rely on, giving them the confidence to push forward offensively.
The Rangers’ offense also clicked on all cylinders, scoring four goals to secure the victory, but it was Parsons’ shutout that truly stole the show. His historic accomplishment adds an exciting chapter to his career as he continues to excel in the OHL and prepare for his future at the NCAA level at Clarkson University. With the win, the Rangers continue to build momentum as they push toward the postseason.
