London, Oshawa to host inaugural CHL USA Prospects Challenge presented by Kubota Canada:
An exciting new event is coming to London and Oshawa. The first-ever CHL USA Prospects Challenge hits the ice on Tuesday, November 26th in London before moving to Oshawa for Wednesday, November 27th. The event features the top first-year NHL Draft-eligible prospects from the CHL’s Member Leagues – Western Hockey League (WHL), Ontario Hockey League (OHL), and Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) – face-off against those from the U.S. National Under-18 Team in a two-game series. IceDogs’ He named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week:
Winnipeg Jets prospect Kevin He of the Niagara IceDogs is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, recording three goals along with four assist for seven points over two games played. Details
Spitfires’ Costanzo named OHL Goaltender of the Week:
Joey Costanzo of the Windsor Spitfires is the OHL Goaltender of the Week, going 2-0 with a shutout, along with a 0.50 goals-against average and .981 save percentage. Details
Sting’s Edwards named OHL Rookie of the Week:
Beckham Edwards of the Sarnia Sting is the OHL Rookie of the Week, registering three goals, an assist, and four points in three games played. Details
OHL Power Rankings – Week 2 Edition:
Each Monday throughout the season, the OHL Power Rankings will highlight the top 16 teams as they compete for position leading into the 2025 OHL Playoffs. In the second rankings of the regular season, the Brampton Steelheads remain in the top spot while the 2024 Memorial Cup champions Saginaw Spirit soar to second place. Details

Generals’ Calum Ritchie makes NHL debut with Colorado Avalanche:
Oshawa Generals centreman Calum Ritchie was named to the Colorado Avalanche’s opening night roster, making his NHL debut on October 9 in an 8-4 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights. Ritchie logged just over 16 minutes of ice time and registered one shot on goal. Details
Storm’s Jett Luchanko opens season with NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers:
The Philadelphia Flyers rolled out their opening night roster, one that includes 18-year-old Guelph Storm centreman Jett Luchanko included on the 23-man list. Selected 13th overall by the Flyers this past summer, Luchanko has impressed throughout the preseason in Philadelphia. Details

The Ottawa 67’s are pleased to announce the return of Charlie McTavish to the organization as Head of Goaltending Evaluation and Development and the hire of Ethan Creese as the team’s Video Coach. Details
Wolves sign 19-year-old free agent Noah Kohan:
The Sudbury Wolves have announced that forward, Noah Kohan has committed to the Hockey Club. The 19-year-old local from Hanmer, ON, joined the Wolves as a free agent invite for the 2024 training camp. Last season, he played for the Greater Sudbury Cubs, where he celebrated winning the Copeland Cup – McNamara Trophy as an NOJHL champion. Details
Rangers acquire blueliner Jakub Chromiak:
The Kitchener Rangers come off a solid weekend, and added to their back end on Monday with the addition of Jakub Chromiak from the Kingston Frontenacs. Chromiak, who turns 19 in November, was one of three import players on the Kingston roster and joins the Rangers who seek some reinforcements on the blueline. Details
Hounds get bigger with addition of Charlie Hilton:
Looking to shake things up following a tough start to the season, the Soo Greyhounds announced the addition of 18-year-old winger Charlie Hilton from the Ottawa 67’s last Friday. A former 14th round pick by the 67’s in 2022, Hilton competed for the Boston Bruins in last month’s Prospects Challenge in Buffalo. Details
Rangers acquire veteran forward Chris Grisolia:
The Kitchener Rangers added some experience to their forward ranks, announcing the addition of forward Chris Grisolia in a trade with the Barrie Colts. The 19-year-old from Vaughan Ont., comes off a 13-point (5-8–13) season in Barrie over 45 games in 2023-24. Details
Frontenacs sign 2023 U18 first round pick Riley Clark:
The Kingston Frontenacs Hockey Club announced the signing of forward Riley Clark to an OHL Scholarship and Development agreement. Riley was selected by the Frontenacs in the first round, 4th overall at the 2023 OHL U18 Priority Selection. He spent the 2023-24 season, and the start of this season with the Stouffville Spirit of the OJHL. Details

Ducks prospect Konnor Smith named Attack captain:
The Owen Sound Attack have named defenceman Konnor Smith captain for the 2024-25 season. Smith was traded from Peterborough to the Attack last year in the early months of of the 2023-24 campaign after winning a 2023 OHL Championship with the Petes. Details
Alumni News:
OHL mourns the loss of Kurtis Evans:
The Ontario Hockey League is saddened by the passing of former North Bay Battalion forward Kurtis Evans, who died following a battle with cancer on October 3, 2024 at the young age of 23. Evans, from Uxbridge, Ont., played for the Battalion from 2017-19 after being a third round pick by the club in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection from the Central Ontario Wolves AAA program. Evans is remembered by friends and family, and leaves behind parents Brad and Holly and brother Jackson. The OHL sends heartfelt thoughts and condolences to all affected at this time. Read more
Otters to retire Connor McDavid’s #97 on January 10, 2025:
In association with Connor McDavid, the McDavid family, and the Edmonton Oilers organization, the Erie Otters are proud and honored to announce the forthcoming retirement of the #97 on Friday, January 10, 2025 for McDavid Jersey Retirement Night. McDavid, a generational talent and current captain of the Edmonton Oilers, played for the Erie Otters from 2012 to 2015. The only Erie Otters draft pick to ever be selected with Exceptional Player Status, Connor McDavid was truly exceptional during his major junior career in the OHL. Details
NHL Opening Night rosters feature OHL stars from across three decades:
The 2024-25 NHL regular season is underway, and 188 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) graduates were included on Opening Night rosters—the highest number of alumni among the Canadian Hockey League’s (CHL) three member Leagues. All 20 current OHL teams, along with the former franchises in the Belleville Bulls and Plymouth Whalers, are represented by alumni on NHL rosters. Details
U SPORTS Report – Oct 9, 2024:
A total of 195 OHL alumni are playing in the U SPORTS men’s hockey ranks this season. Throughout the year the U SPORTS Report will keep tabs on former OHL names doing great things in the OUA, AUS and Canada West ranks on the road to the 2025 U SPORTS University Cup to be held from March 20-23 in Ottawa, Ont. Greyhounds to host Hounds for the Hungry on Friday:
The Soo Greyhounds are set to host their Hounds for the Hungry game on Friday night. The Greyhounds ask fans to bring non-perishable food items in support of the Sault Ste. Marie Soup Kitchen Community Centre and St. Vincent Place.

67’s to host Redblacks game on Friday:
The Ottawa 67’s are set to host their annual Redblacks theme game on Friday. A night of festivities will be highlighted by the Barber Poles wearing special Redblacks crossover jerseys, that fans will have a chance to bid on during the game. Those in attendance can get their picture taken with Riley the Raccoon and Big Joe at a photo booth along the concourse, with football-themed activities such as target passing. REDBLACKS stars Jovan Santos-Knox, Kene Onyeka, DeVonte Dedmon, Marco Dubois, and Adarius Pickett will be joining in on the action, and signing autographs during the first intermission.
Otters to host Retro game on Saturday:
The Erie Otters are set to host their Retro game on Saturday. From sound effects and music reminiscent of days spent in the Arcade, to a game presentation full of 8-bit fun on the video board, this will be a night full of the best of gaming in the ’80s. Fans will also have a chance to win their very-own team-signed retro gaming console.
Firebirds to host Hockey Fights Cancer game on Saturday:
The Flint Firebirds are set to host their Hockey Fights Cancer game on Saturday. The Firebirds will be wearing a specialty “Hockey Fights Cancer” jersey during gameplay followed by a live jersey auction following the game with proceeds benefitting the McLaren Flint Foundation.
