Wolves Fall to Battalion in Pre-Season Play
The Wolves closed out their first home and home series of exhibition play with a 5-1 loss to the North Bay Battalion on Tuesday night to even up the series at one win apiece.
The Sudbury Wolves were led in the first period by goaltender MATTHEW MENNA, who made 15 saves, allowing only one goal. North Bay native, BEN GARAGEN quickly answered the first Battalion goal with his second in as many games, tying the game up at one. Shots were 16-9 in favour of the Battalion after 20 minutes of play.
The second period proved to be the difference in the game as the Battalion scored three goals to give them a comfortable lead going into the last period of play. After the second frame, shots were 27-16 in favour of North Bay.
The Wolves outshot the Battalion 14-10 in the third period but couldn’t put anything past the Battalion goaltender. North Bay’s Jacob Ball added the 5th Battalion goal midway through the frame. Final shots were 37-30 for North Bay.
