Wolves Announce February Player of the Month Award Winners
WOLVES UNITED COMMUNITY PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Veteran defenceman REAGAN O’GRADY has been named the February WOLVES UNITED Community player of the month. Last semester, Reagan was one of a small group of players that approached the game day staff for some assistance to execute on a school project where they wanted to help the Infant food bank as part of an independent project. Together they invited the volunteers at the Pregnancy Care Centre & Infant Food Bank to collect donations at a game in January. Reagan wrapped up the project by visiting the Food Bank earlier this month. The Lindsay native also participated in a community skate in Copper Cliff last week and visited local schools to speak with students on a number of topics, including the importance of goal setting, anti-bullying and nutrition. Reagan is eligible for the NHL Entry Draft this summer and has been a very strong anchor on the blueline for the Wolves this season. Through the month of February he added 3 assists and achieved a +9. The Sudbury Wolves would like to congratulate Reagan on his commitment to the City of Greater Sudbury and the Sudbury Wolves organization, both on and off the ice.
REG WILKINSON MEN’S WEAR SCHOLASTIC PLAYER OF THE MONTH
The REG WILKINSON MEN’S WEAR Scholastic Player of the Month for February is also veteran defenceman REAGAN O’GRADY. O’Grady achieved an 80% average in his first semester at Lasalle Secondary School where he was enrolled in Grade 12 Business Management and Tech Design. He is currently enrolled in two Indepen-dent Learning courses and is expected to attend Laurentian University next year. The Sudbury Wolves would like to congratulate Reagan on his tremendous work on the ice and in the classroom this season
SKATER’S EDGE PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Sophomore, MACAULEY CARSON has been named the February SKATER’S EDGE Player of the Month. During the month of February, Carson has notched 11 points in 11 games played including 9 goals and is a +6 during that period. He is also currently riding a 4-game point streak. The Midhurst native is ranked for this summer’s NHL entry draft which is set to take place in Chicago this June. Carson has had a break-out year with the Wolves having quadrupled his point totals from last season. In 58 games, Carson has scored 25 goals and added 18 assists for 43 points. The Sudbury Wolves would like to commend Macauley for this tremendous play this season.
TESC HARDEST WORKING FORWARD
Overage forward C.J. YAKIMOWICZ has been named the TESC Hardest Working Forward for the month of February. Yakimowicz has been a great addition to the Wolves since being acquired from the London Knights earlier this season. He is a great leader for the young forwards as he never gives up on the play and isn’t afraid to go into the corners. He works tirelessly on and off the ice. In 49 games this season, Yakimowicz has 30 points, including 9 goals. During the month of February he added 8 of those points and was a +7 on the month. The Wolves would like to congratulate Chandler on his hard work and determination this season.
TESC HARDEST WORKING DEFENCEMAN
The TESC Hardest Working Defenceman for the month of February is overager PATRICK SANVIDO. The Guelph native was acquired from the Windsor Spitfires just after Christmas and has been a great addition to the Wolves back-end. Patrick is a great leader and works very hard from the back-end to lead the young Wolves defence core. The 6’6, 230lbs defenceman has a strong physical presence on the ice and never shies away from the play. Sanvido was incredibly steady on the back-end during the month of February scoring a goal and adding two assists as well as going +10 through 11 games. The Sudbury Wolves would like to congratulate Patrick on his strong play during the month.
MOLSON CANADIAN 3-STAR PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Rookie goaltender JAKE MCGRATH has been named the MOLSON CANADIAN 3-STAR award winner for the month of February. In 8 appearances in net in February, Jake was named the first star once, second star once and third star once. In 36 games played this season, the Mississauga native has a 3.82 GAA and a 0.894 Save Percentage. He also holds a record of 14 wins, 12 losses and 6 overtime losses and has stepped up big in the absence of Zack Bowman who has been sidelined with an injury. The Sudbury Wolves would like to Jake for his strong play throughout the month and this season.
