Attack Overcome Wolves in Pre-Season Play
The Wolves hit the road early on Sunday morning to take on the Owen Sound Attack for a matinee match-up. Despite tying the game up at three heading into the second intermission, the Attack pulled ahead in the final frame to end the game with a 5-3 final. Goals from the Wolves came from Macauley Carson, Blake Murray, and Liam Ross.
Standouts for the game included Carson, who scored his second goal of the pre-season. Ross had a solid showing for the club, recording two points with a goal and an assist. Rookie Quinton Byfield recorded his first pre-season point as he picked up one assist in the afternoon.
After a scoreless first period, both teams tallied three goals in the second. The Attack opened the scoring as they took a 2-0 lead with goals from Kaleb Pearson and Kevin Hancock. Carson cut the lead in half after he capitalized off of a rebound. Darian Pilon was credited with the lone assist on the play. Nick Suzuki gave the Attack yet another two-goal lead before the Wolves rallied back to tie the game. Blake Murray and Liam Ross both scored from the blue-line, after releasing hard shots that beat Nathan Torchia.
A power play goal for the Attack from Daylon Groulx gave them an early lead in the third period. Their momentum continued as Pearson netted his second of the game to end with a 5-3 final.
Marshall Frappier and David Bowen split the game, each having the opportunity to play a period and a half.
Exhibition action continues as the Wolves will travel to Collingwood on Tuesday to take on the Barrie Colts at 6:00pm. Fans can follow the action on Twitter.
